MM: Who are you and where are you from?
I am from South Central Los Angeles.. Lived in other parts of L.A. as well. I'm am an artist.. I consider myself someone who isn't afraid to express how I feel. I'm a rebel.
MM: ..and do you have any tattoos
No
MM:What does your name mean?
My name was given to me in junior high when I was going to Gompers Middle School by a close friend of mine who passed away. Once I began writing [S-Mak] was the only name that I thought of that I liked.
MM: Talk to us a little about your album. What is the concept? What do you want people to take away from 20/20 ?
The way we recorded 20/20 was in a way that the listener would feel like they are listening to something they shouldn't be listening to.. Like the recording is material the government doesn't want you to have. The material is suppose to be suppress because of the truth that it contains, so we tried to create that tone around the mixtape.. I want people to walk away from 20/20 feeling like they have been exposed to the truth and want to share it with others.
MM:What made you want to become a "rapper", "artist", "writer" ?
Well my father was a songwriter and producer.. He worked with Rose Royce and worked on the song "Car Wash". Growing up my father ran a recording studio so I grew around alot of artist. My older brothers became artist as well and I ended up following suit. In the Bible sons took after there fathers craft so subconsciously I did the same.
MM:Who is your favorite artist? and do they influence your art?
Thats a tough one.. I would have to say 2Pac, Nas, Andre 3000, and E-40.. All of those guys heavily influence what I do. They're fearlessness and attention to detail are the things that I've adopted from them.
MM:Where do you hope to be as an artist in the next 5 years
I hope to be a great creative space and be on a platform that would allow me to reach more people.
MM:So now that we've gotten the meat and potatoes out of the way lets play a little game..... Name five people from anytime in history that you'd like to have lunch with.
Thats a good one.. Jesus MLK.. 2Pac.. Archie Moore.. and Fredrick Douglass
MM:Name 3 women from our present time that you'd like to date.
Laila Ali... Kerry Washington.. and Toya((Lil' Wayne baby momma)
MM:Are you more Superman or Clark Kent?
I'm definitely Clark Kent
MM: Are you more Elmo or Oscar the Grouch
I think I'm right in between. I share qualities [from both of them]
MM:Riddle me this... What gets wet when its drying?
Ummmmm... A towel.
